A1 125cc: To gain a full category A1 licence the trainee is obliged to undergo CBT, theory and Practical Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests.
This will allow the trainee to ride a motorcycle up to a 125cc with a maximum power output of 14.6bhp (11kw) without L plates, carry passengers and use motorways. This is a permanently restricted licence. You must be a minimum of 17 to take this category and the restrictions apply no matter your age.

Category and moped or motorcycle to be used on test:
A1 – Motorcycle without sidecar WITH:
– cubic capacity of at least 120cc and no larger than 125cc
– power output not exceeding 11kW (14.6bhp)
– capable of a speed of at least 90km/h (55mph)
Minimum age: 17
Category access requirements:
CBT, theory and practical tests.
